Back to About Us
Rhianydd was self-taught from the many sugarcraft and cake-decorating books
available and entered a few competitions in 2000, gaining Commended, Highly
Commended, Bronze and Silver but since then has been largely occupied with
the wedding cakes. Between 2001 and 2004, she has attended courses in
Neath Port Talbot College and other venues to study cake decoration and sugar
flowers.  She holds certificates in Sugar Modelling; Confectionary; C & G
Sugarcraft; Intermediate Sugarcraft (Distinction), Sugar Flowers (Distinction) and
Professional Chocolate Work.
Rhianydd has also achieved Level 2 flower arranging.
Rhianydd now
teaches at Tonyrefail and Porth Comprehensives, demonstrates
for the British Sugarcraft Guild and holds classes at the
Studio.

Her favourite sugar authors are:
Alan Dunn
for sugar flowers.  He is a specialist in this field, and all of his books
are excellent.
Debbie Brown for novelty cakes.  Be prepared to work hard when you make
one of her designs, but the end result is stunning.  Or use her many techniques to
design your own.  More personal that way.

Other favourites and inspirations include:
The British Sugarcraft Guild, Alison Proctor (my first ever cake book);
Tombi Peck; the International Sugarcraft Guild books; Emma Slatter
(modelled figures);
Lindy Smith (novelty cakes), and John Slattery (for his
chocolate cakes)
